Henry Royce Institute

June 11, 2021

Meridian Fire & Security completed the commissioning works in 2020 of the new-build Henry Royce Institute at the University of Manchester, working alongside Crown House Technologies and Laing O’Rourke

The brands chosen were Fireclass for the fire, detection and alarms system, into which we also incorporated a bespoke fire damper control panel and some complex, phased, cause and effect. VESDA and ICAM units were installed in several places with the system also interfaced with fire curtains, mechanical plant, medical gases, access control, lifts, multiple BMS control panels, generators, AOV systems and also monitoring for activations of fume cupboards and sprinkler valve and flow switches.

Baldwin Boxall was used for the Emergency Voice Communications, also incorporating the accessible toilet alarms, all into one system.

The systems here were completed and demonstrated ahead of schedule in plenty of time for the client to move in.
