St. James Shopping Centre

June 11, 2021

Meridian Fire & Security have been offered and accepted the installation and commissioning of the life safety and security systems at the St. James Shopping Centre in Edinburgh.

This project began for us in September 2020 and is due for completion in the summer of 2021. On this site, we are working alongside Rotary Building Services.

Systems being installed are multiple, networked Gent panels for the Fire alarm system, Paxton for the access control and Texecom for the intruder system. On here we have installed all galvanised containment for the complete installation of all our systems. We have recently demonstrated our systems with Dome Consulting, way ahead of schedule.

The Gent systems for the fire, detection and alarms system is using a coincidence type cause and effect that integrates with the mechanical plant, access control, CHP and multiple BMS panels as well as links to other fire alarm systems used in the shopping centre.

Whilst on this project, we have also been approached by some of the retail outfits to commission their systems, including Bank of Scotland and more recently the Pull and Bear store which are also now completed. On here advanced fire panels utilising Hochiki detection has been used, and also a VESDA panel in one of the stores as the client doesn’t want to see detectors and has opted for an aspiration system.
